Thank you, NFVWW reader, for sending me this (extra Whip for you!): Top 10 Most Offensive New York Post Cartoons
2/19/09 UPDATE: Here's a pretty good analysis by the Huffington Post, along with a link to the NY Post's "response:" http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/02/18/new-york-post-chimp-carto_n_167841.html
Freedom of speech, but *whoever penned THIS CARTOON is an unfunny douchebag AND a racist asshat. Send whatever comments you may have to:

Sick ! Sick ! Sick ! And I let them know !!
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
ReplyDeleteThe NY Post is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who isn't an American, btw. He also owns MySpace, which is a known pedophile site.
Yeah, Rupert? You're a dick.
Clearly, the "political cartoonist" was attempting to draw on yesterday's shooting of that poor chimpanzee.
ReplyDeleteUm...ok, Mister Cartoonist. I get that you're trying to tie-in the topical in an attempt to disguise your BLATANT racism. And, I might add, sore-loserism (I know that's not a word, but I like it and it's my blog).
Ok, so let's take any racial innuendo out of it for a second. For a second, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you're COMPLETELY ignorant of the historical, prejudiced use of comparing black people to monkeys....nope, still not funny.
Racist and hateful, yes.
Clever and funny, no.
Um. You do know that there was a pet chimp attack in CT yesterday and the police had to come in to shoot him? Having Shakespeare written by a room of chimps is an old saw -- if you see racism here, maybe you need to check your glasses. Or maybe the brain behind them?
ReplyDeleteObama didn't write the bill.
Thanks for reading and commenting! I guess my response would be..."see above response."
ReplyDeletePS Rationalizing racism by trying to link the cartoon to an obscure Shakespeare "old saw" is quite a stretch.
ReplyDeleteUnless we're talking about the Clinton administration. In which case, "Out, damned spot!" would be COMPLETELY appropriate...if the the chimp was say...Monica Lewinsky? And she was holding say...a blue dress?
Because, you see...*thumping microphone*...Hey, is this thing on? ...
How come there is a 'Beware of Dog' sign on a city light post in the cartoon? Very weird.
ReplyDeleteThat is weird! I didn't even notice it. It's there for a reason...but what is it?
ReplyDeleteAnd really? It took three shots to the chest at close range to take that chimpanzee out? Really?? That's some kinda hatred there. For somebody.
I'm just sayin.'
Thanks for your comments! It makes Whippy so happy! :)
Jen you are definately correct. Anonymous is very misled !!!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to tell you I got a Illinois President Barack Obama license plate today at the Auto Show. Really cool!!!!
ReplyDeleteJen see the AP article on the NY Post apology on the cartoon !!
ReplyDeletePeoples voices heard !!!
